Wine a’More Travel is a fully licensed on-line tour operator, organising tastings, day tours wine weekends and holidays for wine enthusiasts living in or visiting Hungary. It will be our pleasure to meet and guide both wine-loving amateurs and modest professionals.

Our small groups of 6-20 persons are escorted by a sommelier or WSET expert tour guide. The trips depart – in most cases – from Budapest, so a pre,- or post tour can easily be added to the wine experiences. We offer our programmes in English however we have contracted German, Spanish and Italian tour guides, as wellWines, old cellars, experience – Wine a’More Travel Ltd.

Spend two days in Tokaj, Hungary’s most famous wine region! We are meeting with winemakers whose efforts and devotion to the Renaissance of Tokaj is exceptional. Experience the diversity of Furmint, walk around the lovely vineyards of Mád, admire the landscape! Taste Szepsy wines, learn about the importance of soils, the winemaking tradition, taste with Mr. Árvay. Search for minerality in the dry wines, lime and apricot flavours in the late harvests and dry fruits with honey in the nectar-like aszú wines. Let us take you to a wonderful journey through the Moonvalley Winery’s unique vintage cellar labyrinth.

Saint Martin’s Day is celebrated in Hungary during the week of 11th of November. Find out the connection between St Martin the geese and wine! Try the best Mediterranean style red wines of Szekszárd along with some fruity, fresh whites! Admire the scenic landscape around Bátaapáti where Marchesi Antinori found the proper place for his white wines. Meet Mr. Takler and Mr. Vida two of the most well-known winemakers of Szekszárd! Learn about local red wines, Kékfrankos(Blaufraenkisch), Kadarka and the Bikavér of Szekszárd (Bull’s Blood of Szekszárd) the Kékfrankos based cuvée and discover the secrets of barrel making, stave and barrique production.

The Budapest International Wine Festival - daytour

Buda Castle hosts one of the most spectacular wine festivals each September. Taste one glass of Olaszrizling from lake Balaton, a Cabernet Franc from Villány or the world famous Tokaji aszú. Admire the buildings of the Royal Palace or that of the National Gallery in the world heritage site and get a breathtaking panorama of the Danube with the Chain Bridge and Saint Stephen Basilica.

The Budapest International Wine Festival is a great opportunity to get an overall impression of Hungarian wines, taste the exiting local grape varieties and get to know the winemakers themselves within a short period of time. We put together this program for wine enthusiasts wishing to look behind the bottles. Our wine expert tour manager guides you through the crowd to the stands of top winemakers, explains wine regions, grapes and wines giving as many impressions of wine and city as possible. Private groups of friends, ladies, different clubs or corporate partners are welcome! The tour is available in English, German, Spanish or French language.

PROGRAMME

We meet in the Buda Castle, at the entrance of the Wine Festival at the „Oroszlános Kapu”, at 18:00 PM. Having grabbed your glass for the evening, your guide tells you shortly, about Hungarian wines and the history of Buda Castle then the tour starts with sampling some sparkling wines. We stroll leisurely among the booths of different wine producers; stop for tasting their wines following a bespoke route. We will have the chance to experience live performances displaying the pride of Hungarian culture, art, folklore, and gastronomy. We will finish our tour with enjoying the world’s most famous natural dessert wine: Tokaji aszú.
